I was conversating with a neighbor today about all the weird reactions around the city this week when it hit me:

It is the end of the school year. Even those of us not currently in school are deeply conditioned by the academic calendar.

ROTFL---and I wondered why my week was bad last week! What was I thinking? Finals week! Graduation coming up! OMG---I live near a univeristy town, how did I not realize?

Arfie---genius! Yep. When you live near academic stuff, your subconscious gets trained like one of Pavlov's pups!

Well, Ifeel better knowing why I feel off-kiilter---LOL, my wedding anny is right by this time of year, you'd think I'd remember it!

Even a feral child from the 50s -like me- was already conditioned to the academic cycles before they were eligible for kindergarten. Even a high school dropout is deeply conditioned to the academic calendar before they drop out. I am convinced all of us continue to react, even if we remove ourselves from the culture. Conditioning we are not aware of tends to control us more than conditioning we are aware of. Hence the irrational reactions of cPTSD... And academic mania...

It is not over yet!!! I still have 30 days of classes, two 50+page research reports, and two finals to do! I am not sure I am going to make it - I might just flip out between now and then....

My boom town boasts education as its third largest industry. Music is #1 and politics is #2. State capitol. Some of our schools have already finished up. Others are closer to your schedule. Makes it easier to "Keep Austin Weird," I reckon.

Always liked Austin. Heard it's losing some/much of its charm with growth, though, huh ?

I did my part to keep it weird ... and I was just passin' thru ;-)

It sounds stupid to complain about having the summer off, I know, so I do apologize right off the bat.

That said, what arfie says is true of me. These last days after finals at the community college are transitional for me big time. So glad the teaching overload schedule is done, but now what? I realize how much I love a work routine to keep focused on a disciplined regimen with my PTSD. I'm thinking of taking up a volunteer position in the community.

    I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying.  I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there.  I think that I will start writing in it again.  It's so therapeutic.
