Today was the last day of classes for my Tuesday/Thursday death and dying class I teach to nursing students at my community college. When I dismissed my last class for the last time, we didn't want to head off into the future from the present quite yet. Folks hung around to chat.
My life has anxiety in it that takes up a lot of my attention, just coping with my PTSD. I've seen terrible, terrible things done to me and to others by terrible people, as many of us here have. Happy moments of hanging out and being just present with others are a big deal to me.
Next thing after work my distance learning aide surprised me and took me out to dinner with his wife. I go out to eat with someone else maybe once every 2 or 3 months, so it was another big deal to me---a 2nd one in one day.
The waitress at the restaurant where we went out to eat turned out to be one of my former students from that class. She was glad to see me and to talk about the class. Things that nice don't happen to me all the time, either, so it was yet again another big deal for me--that makes 3 in one day.
The only other place where that happens a lot for me is here. Here I see friends ask for support. Quick replies offer it as a gift so often. I think seeing support matter here has made me able to see it matter out in the world, too, and given me a way to point to it. I want to thank you all at DS PTSD for that. I hope get back the support you give here.

I'm glad you got your hat trick. You deserve it !
Last night we had a huge wind storm. It partly ripped the tarps off the roof, broke lots of branches in the yard, partially emptied the deck, and lost us power for a few hours. As hubby uses a CPAP to sleep, I just stayed up and talked with him until the power came back on. I had to remind HIM to enjoy what we can! Here we were snuggled warm in bed having fun talking and getting to listen to the sounds of nature at a pretty fierce point, 70+ mph estimated by news.
There was nothing I could do about the storm. Either the house would be standing after it or not. I chose to enjoy it and I had a blast.
Hugs to you my friend! Today is also going to be a good day!!!
As for today being good, too, it was, y. It was the last day of school at the community college where I teach. I realized that since January 2014 until now I hadn't missed a single day of school. Not one sick day. And I've been plenty sick, I just scheduled those doctors' appointments around the job week in and week out. Little by little, here we are: a perfect attendance record for a year. Holy smokes!
In 2011 when I first got this job I had 6 sick days per semester the first year, and my boss asked me if I needed to leave and go on disability. Scared the crap out of me.
I'm grateful to have pulled off this attendance thing at work now. Wow.
CONGRATS!!!
