Here's hoping he'll find that "thing" you mention, yeah. I know what you mean, but the fact is that everybody's got to define what that "thing" is for themselves, you're right. Hoping for him to find it....
Since this was the next to last day of my death and dying classes, I thought we were done. As I was telling another friend here, though, tt got intense instead. 3 older non-traditional students of mine pulled me aside to get my counsel on situations in their lives before the course ended. One is a mom who has a grown son at home depressed, one is a mom who has a 6 year old undergoing her 16th surgery, and one is a non-traditional student whose mother in law's fear led her to refuse surgery in favor of faith healing for cancer and it's now too late & she's dying.
Pretty heavy scenarios, and I thought I was as good as done! I have grading to do before tomorrow afternoon, but this evening I'm going to go out for dinner with a friend and unwind.
The mom of the child, that's the one I'd have more advice about. And it would be about self care. Taking time to be happy. Enjoy life. Relax. Go for a walk, eat ice cream. Don't let life end before it ends.
The mom of the depressed boy: This lecture is about the best I've ever heard:

2 more to go.
Thanks for the support through this week from everybody here, all of these 20 or so good wishes in replies were wonderful.
