It's been a while since I've posted. Lots of craziness lately, but I really am out of comfort zone. What I mean by that is that I can't stop getting the images of myself as being seen as a patient than just a "regular" human being.
I know there is nothing normal about ptsd and all the things that come with it. But lately, there's been this overwhelming sadness and pain in my heart of seeing so much chaos and destruction and pain of others that my head non-stops thinks of ppl instead of my ownself.
The image from being Kathy to a patient is overwhelming and uncomfortable. I really don't like how now I am seen as a patient with needs, who asks for help, and needs assistance from professionals. I can't get past that. I am really self-aware of my conditions that it scares me to know that much of myself, but when I see others, I can't show that vulnerability b/c of my upbringing and my experiences.
I don't know if this a question or concern or need for advice, but I want stop seeing myself as this new person, new character of "patient".
Sigh.

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

You are you. No one is ever just some label.
If you had been a patient because you broke your leg, I don't think you would be worried about the stigma of that. We get medical help when we have a medical issue be it purely physical or w/ a psychological component.
Seeking out that professional help shows how smart you are and how much you want to feel comfortable in your own skin again.
I can understand that in-patient treatment is very stressful, but you should feel proud that you are taking care of yourself. We here all offer our support - and it's not because we are fellow PTSD folks, but because we are fellow human beings wishing you well.
In terms of getting stressed regarding other people's traumas, remember to put your own progress and comfort first. Use any personal boundaries you need to help keep your days as calm as possible. How you move forward is based on what you think is most helpful for you.
Take care of yourself and let us know how we can best support you.
other than i was patient too, i didnt like it much, especialy all doors locked, i needed profesional help i couldnt do much for myself when i was doing so bad and did i like it or not i needed help because at that time i havent be able to help much to myself
it wasnt that bad either i get chance to talk with ppl like me or with another disorders and addictions, we shared our experiences talked while there and stuff they just do their job and have to follow rules and hospital policies and so on
take care and be well
It is a sign of strength to accept the help you need and the best way to get back to you in the way you'd rather see yourself.
As Letitbe said, personal boundaries could help when other peoples' process starts to intrude on yours. They are where they are in terms of progress, and it says nothing either way about you.
You are a smart, articulate woman and we still see you that way.
Whatever the whatever of that, be gentle with yourself and keep the steps small. Time has no meaning in the healing process.
For sure, it is good to see you back, Kat. Heal well.
