I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Practice relaxing your body. One way to do this is to start at your toes, contracting and then releasing the muscles, work your way slowly up your body. Breathe normally as you do this. Close your eyes if you can and when you release the muscle, try to let it relax completely and deeply. This practice signals your body to move into rest and digest mode, which turns back on all of bodily functions, slows your heart rate back to normal, stops hyperventilation, etc.
If you find relaxation techniques are not stopping the bodily reaction, see your doctor. You may need some temporary help with medication to help retrain your body to react normally in normal situations. Prolonged stress hormones roaming around in our bodies can ultimately cause a host of health issues. It's best to do whatever you can to lower the amount of these hormones and such in your system.
I have also found that listening to the Enigma Channel on panroda.com helps me to calm myself down when I am triggered.
Once I have quieted the deafening roar of the beast, I turn my attention to finding and addressing the source. After considerable work, I am finally recognising the sources (triggers) well enough that I am able to catch it before it is destructively out of control.
I walk, or rather, pace back and forth. Sometimes I furiously clean my house....I have children, so there's always something to clean up and it burns off the adrenaline.
If I get angry, well, right now I am dealing with child abuse issues, so I keep taking a piece of the china my mother and father got when they married (which turned into everyday dishes many many moons ago) and I take one out to the garage, put it in a garbage bag, and then hammer the hell out of it. There's something rather soothing about pulverizing the very dishes I never quite managed to wash perfectly as a child.
