As far as the birth control pills, I think it does help with the PCOS because it balances hormones and you also most likely won't get cysts on your ovaries. I was diagnosed with PCOS once I went off of birth control pills because I can't get pregnant.
I would write down some questions for the RE for your next appt. It can be very overwhelming at your first appt. I find that writing down my questions really helps because that way I don't forget anything, which is very easy to do.
