Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) Support Group
Polycythemia is a condition in which there is a net increase in the total circulating erythrocyte (red blood cell) mass of the body. Primary polycythemia occurs when excess erythrocytes are produced as a result of a proliferative abnormality of the bone marrow. Secondary polycythemia is caused by increases of erythropoietin that result in an increased production of...
I think you should get tested for PCOS and then cut out all fizzy drinks etc. I read a lot up about PCOS (also overweight) and what not to eat or drink. I have lost 10 pounds just with exercising more, just walking about 3 - 4 miles a day, not eating any bread or bagels or anything llike that and just drinking lots of water.
To be honest with you, this month was my first time that I ovulated so it must be working. :-)
There is also a website called PCOS Diva. She has a meal plan for ladies with PCOS. I do not follow her plan but she has given a lot of advise that has helped me.
With PCOS you feel very demotivated and depressed, that is normal and the only thing is you MUST stay positive.
We are all in the same boot here. My husband and I having trying for almost 2 years now and finally after going into to hospital for something else, found out my previous OB has not been treating me correctly. I found a fantastic OB and he started testing and I have been with him now for 4 months and what a difference it has made.
I have also read that people with PCOS need to stay away from Gluten (as you know, everything has Gluten) so it is very hard but that is why I am doing it in small amounts and that is what my OB also said. Don't get your weight down to your goal weight or under but rather just have a look at losing about 10% of your weight, you will see the huge difference it will make. I have so much more energy and hubby and I enjoy baby dancing a lot more. :-)
Good luck and do not be discourage, it can work. I am very positive. My doctor said if I wasn't ovulating this month he would've put me on Clomid but because I was, we are waiting to see. He has put me on Cyclogest 200mg (pessaries) for the next 15 days, so I am very hopeful. It is only 5DPO but I really do feel great, different but great.
Good luck to you and don't be discourage, God has a reason and we need to put our trust in the Heavenly Father that He will make it happen for us, when He think it is the right time. xx
I agree about the positivity so I am grateful for your advice and encouragement. :) Since I'm new, I'm not sure what the language is yet. What is 5DPO?
Glad to hear of your success!
But that is why these lovely ladies are all here, to help each other, giving advise and just helping out when we feeling blue.
I totally agree. Everything has gluten and carbs in. I haven't yet managed to cut them all out, it is better if you do things slowing, I know that is better said than done as we all want to become mommies but my OB said that it mustn't be to much of a shock to your body so start slowing getting your eating and drinking ready and you will feel so much better, that I can promise you.
Good luck and remember, we are all here for you.
I'm kinda hoping that the metformin will help to regulate things, anyone had success just off of metformin and dietary changes?
Also, I've lost 10lbs being on the Metformin and I'm really excited to see if I can continue to lose. How crazy would it be if I got a BFP on my first cycle?! I'm definitely not holding my breath, I'm just happy things are starting to work for me and the possibility light is getting brighter. :)
Thanks for all the encouragement!
xoxo
I have PCOS and am significantly overweight.
I was able to conceive and I now have a 3 year old.
PCOS makes your body super unpredictable.
I did not lose weight to conceive.
I was on metformin for about 8m to get my cycles a bit regulated...they were about 50 days. I did do clomid in attempts to do an IUI. My IUI was cancelled due to lack of mature follicles. We were about 5 years into our ttc journey at this point....and this felt like a bit of a defeat....so I was waiting for my cycle to begin again to restart and my period just didn't come. Months passed w no period and I had several negative preg tests. Then about 4m later w no period still I got a BFP (positive preg test). In the end....I was 7w pregnant and had no idea. I would have conceived like on day 90something of thy cycle. It was a crazy miracle. And now, I have a perfect 3 year old. :-)
As far as success w weight loss, I've had a lot of success going gluten free. It's actually not very hard. I did a program called the 21 day sugar detox. I hate the name....sounds gimmicky. But I'm telling you it's life changing. I've done it a lot loner than 21 days. I've been doing it 3 months now and have averaged losing 10 pounds a month (I've lost 34 lbs since late/mid November). I first got the book from the library. It has completely changed all of my cravings, hunger feelings, etc. I don't exercise either....besides caring for a 3 year old that is.
Best of luck! I hope all goes well for you. Feel free to send me questions!
My HCG levels rose well though she only ran them twice. I have symptoms but I'm still nervous and waiting for the other shoe to drop. So I guess we'll see.
Thank you to everyone for all the encouragement! It's always nice to come back here and read success stories and everyone's individual experiences.
