As far as side effects. It can defintiely contribute to mood swings, but now that I know that I do a pretty good job keeping it in check (with a few wayward moments during pregnancy :)). I have the stomach/GI issues, but they do get better with time. In fact the Met gives me a general feeling of 'not being myself', but you get used to it in time and it helps to focus on the end goal.
Good luck!
Congratulations on your pregnancy...I pray that it is a healthy and successful one. My doctor knows that I want to continue to conceive, but since the miscarriage she thinks it's a good idea to put me on birth control for three months then try clomid. Before the metformin I think that I was a little more erratic....but then again I haven't been on it more than a week so we will see. I take them before bedtime and when I wake up I feel nauseous. I'm nowhere near as nauseous as I was before all of this.
I do feel better that I was finally diagnosed because finally I know what's wrong with me...I guess I could deal with the nausea since it's nowhere near as bad without metformin.
Good luck and keep me posted
I take 2000mg Metformin ER since July of this year. I started at 1000mg and the dose has been increased by my RE (reproductive endocrinologist).
I found out I had PCOS in July of this year and just took my first month of Clomid (50mg) but unfortunately still didn't ovulate :( but I'm hoping that my RE will up my Clomid dose to 100 mg and hopefully that will do the trick....I hope. :)
Good luck to you!! I have to keep reminding myself that I will beat infertility, it will not beat me!!
