Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.
hope the transplant comes through soon so he can get back to being a kid again in every sense of the word.
FSGS--Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis--is a kidney disease that has no known cure as yet, even if it is detected early. The kidenys
deteriorate progressively over time . . . you might slow down the speed but not by much.
I would prefer my son not to go thru the transplant experience, but what choice do I have? His elder brother has offered a kidney. We hope things work out once the cents are available!
