Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Support Group
Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.
Ladies and gentlemen, today I CRIED! Yes I did. I have written here about my 13-year-old son who is suffering from FSGS and needs kidney transplant. He has been up and down. At one stage he would be very jovial indeed and the next he is down!
But yesterday, I really saw him as I have known him. He still has the disease and still has to be dialised twice a week. But yesterday, something had changed. It was as if he had never suffered! Ladies and gentlemen, I can't explain it, but as I was trying to tell my wife what I saw in our son the previous day, I broke down and cried. I ran away in order to hide it from my wife but I think she suspected.

hope the transplant comes through soon so he can get back to being a kid again in every sense of the word.
FSGS--Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis--is a kidney disease that has no known cure as yet, even if it is detected early. The kidenys
deteriorate progressively over time . . . you might slow down the speed but not by much.
I would prefer my son not to go thru the transplant experience, but what choice do I have? His elder brother has offered a kidney. We hope things work out once the cents are available!
