Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I'm so sorry. I hear
the pain and despair
in what you've written.
Does your social worker
know you're talking about
ending your life?
This:
(212) 673-3000
is a hotline in
New York City.
Please call them
and talk to them.
This:
(800) 942-6906
is the number
for your state's
women's resources.
They, also, may be
able to provide you
some support.
Please don't give up.
Live can be better.
Sending you prayers
and wishes for your
being able to reach
a place beyond despair.
You may have a lot of things going on in your life and they may seem like a huge mountain to climb but take each issue, one at a time, and hopefully they won't seem so daunting.
My prayers go with you along with my hope that today will be a better day for you.
I hear you. I am 62 and disabled and I had to leave a man I loved in the past year because of his abuse. I don't have much of a support system, either, but I have some support and a few things that make me happy such as my writing You don't need much to make a life that is satisfying to you, just something to look forward to each day, something you enjoy. And you have already begun by posting here. There are exercise classes in swim pools for people that have joint problems. They are at the Y, fitness clubs, swim clubs and senior citizen centers that have pools.
Please follow up on Ilene's advice. It is natural to feel depressed in the aftermath of an abusive relationship, but there can still be good things ahead for you.
Hugs.
I apologize. My eye
saw an "r" at the end
of your handle, that
wasn't there. I'm
sorry I got your
name wrong.
I should have said,
in my first post, that
I sat at the crossroads
of life and death, in the
abyss of the abuse. For
six months I envisioned
and planned for my own
demise. It looked so
enticingly tempting.
I'm so glad that I found
a way to choose to survive.
I urge you to search for
the way out, for yourself.
One day, life can be better.
But you have to survive,
to get to that day.
Please hang on
so you can get
to that day.
I'm very sorry that you had to go through that abuse for 12 1/2 years and that you suffer physically from pain.
It's also very hard not to have a support system, I understand how you feel, at times even now theres not a soul I feel that I can confide in and at the darkest moments, I too have felt and fantasized about death and have been jealous of those who were gone. Living can be tiring, you are not alone in your feelings.
My counselor insisted that I sign contracts that I wouldn't harm myself, and she wouldn't see me anymore until I went to an outpatient hospital program. Much if my sadness, self hatred, was due to abuse and trauma, sexual, mental physical.
I wonder if there is anything like a place where you can go that helps women that have been abused. Do you feel comfortable calling the women's shelter and inquiring about counseling? And your social worker may have suggestions too. Being on forums like this helps me a lot as well. Again, you're not alone.
