Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
He's not even a full on diabetic he's borderline, pffffft, there's no such thing your either within the limit or your not regarding the cut off line for when they test your blood sugar levels. Even so, being diabetic is so easily treated anyway!
I remember once (about six on this after he first told me he was diabetic) he was chatting to me sitting on the couch, I was talking about my pregnancy as I had my daughter by then but she was just a new born, I actually had gestational diabetes whilst pregnant, and he goes...
"I was nearly diabetic!"
I was like "there's no such thing! So you wasn't actually diabetic then, so when u told me u was u was in fact nearly diabetic?"
I mean I understand if a doctor says to loose weight because your at risk but it's only a warning it's not a diagnoses.
Free, thank GOD we are away from them hey!
He tried to tell me that he was diabetic... While drinking a rum and coke! I nodded towards the drink, and said it must not be that bad if he can still have sugar! Then he tried some lame story about what the doctor told him, yadda, yadda... Too bad my mom was an expert on the medical management of diabetes for a number of years and my best friend growing up had diabetes. I saw right through his bs and when I asked him for details that is when he broke down and said he was 'borderline'.
I am still shocked by what they try... I have to consciously remember that I do not think like he does and to listen to my gut!
BTW, I think it is funny your ex tried to say he had diabetes when you went through it yourself... He really was an idiot to think he get away with saying it to you and that you wouldn't catch on!!!
I am so glad I don't have to deal with him anymore.
We all learn from helping. We all learn from others sharing difficulties. This is what support means, to be there in the times of struggle. BIG/little such words should be banned. Someone will read this never imagining their ex would conceive such a plot. They will learn and protect themselves from harm.
I am a stroke waiting to happen. Oh my dramatics!!!!!! Sounds exactly like my families guilt trips.
Toss pot can I use that one myself!!! Love it!
Yep free, they are totally different people with very strange mind sets. Oh my ex was someone who genuinely thought he was mr invisible when it came to his lies, he was actually just a cocky arrogant idiot. I think what happened was because once upon a time I was too scared to point out his outrageous lies (because he'd turn it on me) that he truly believed he could pull the wool over my eyes, sometimes he did but there was so many stupid lies I found out about, it was totally mental.
He once lied to me about what he did for a job, I found out he didn't work where he said he did and when I confronted him ya know what he said,
"I couldn't tell you because I'm not suppose to tell anyone where I work as its top secret. It's for the secret service, I secure the building where their offices are"
I thought, "well fuck a duck, now he's a secret agent"
Actually I did believe him (as the lie about where he worked and what he did made no sense what so ever) so I thought maybe he really couldn't tell me because he want allowed as it was a pointless lie.
I eventually found out what actually goes on in the building he works at and it wasn't too secret, I'm pretty sure they enjoy lying. I suppose for people who love to have power and control, lying is a tool to have power over you and control over what u think is real.
Secondly, please don't feel silly. Be GLAD you posted. Ok, it did turn out to be him being a drama queen, but your posting here and getting support before you went there had you in a better frame of mind and better equipped to handle it. Which is what this group is for.
As for "borderline diabetic" yeah well my dad's been borderline diabetic for 10 years or more, which just means if he doesn't watch his diet, his sugars go haywire and he tests as diabetic. If he does watch his diet, he's fine. And it means he needs fairly regular checks just to keep an eye on it. So yes, terrifying indeed.
Use this as a lesson in what lengths he will go to in trying to get you back under his spell. And remember it next time he cries wolf.
