Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I wondered how long it would take him to realize that I was checking out of the relationship for real. No more talking about the "kids" (19&21) which really means slamming me about being a bad mother. No more talking about "money". No more discussions about anything.
NC for 10 days, 3 hours, and 18 minutes
He has called me today. I did not answer or take the call. Now it will begin. I can easily predict what will happen now. He will text. He will email. He will call again. He cannot stand when he cannot reach his whipping doll. Then, the real hatefulness will start. He will call my kids and ask to talk to me. Complain to them. Ruin another Christmas.
Just had a nice lunch with my son and my mother. It is rainy and cozy here in Seattle. We are wrapping gifts and the house smells like a pine tree (candle!) It isn't like Christmas's past, but damn it... it is all mine. This apartment, these decorations, these gifts, the food, these things are mine and I did this and I want to enjoy it. Peace for this Holiday season.
Any tips or advice is appreciated. I feel like if I can make it through Christmas Day, somehow then the toughest part is over, and I can make it through any thing.

Me... "Okay, C, listen. It is Christmas. I know you are hurting. I am not going to fight. I know you miss me and the kids. We miss you too, but I can't talk. Merry Christmas."
Boy, I handled that better than most times. Maybe I am seeing him for what he is. A very broken hateful man who is alone and lonely and only wants others to feel his pain.
It makes me sad for him but it also got rid of him for the day.

He really misses having his control.
He is desperate!
He is delusional. They are both of your kids - not just his!
He is mean.
He is unloving.
He is disrespectful.
He is not honoring your boundaries.
He is selfish.
He is self-centered.
He is USING his mother and dead father to guilt trip you.
He isn't even grateful he is with his mother!
He is ABUSIVE in EVERY part of his communication with you.
It's very hard, even with adult kids to stay NC. But you are doing GREAT! You ROCK!!!!

Um, Shannon, here's your sign. I am so used to being abused that I hardly notice it sometimes. I just know I hurt from it but I don't always say, Stop. This is abuse.
