Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
My boyfriend and father of my son-- now ex-- hit me a few times and claimed that it was no big deal because he was just upset and he didn't mean to.
Like the post before me, if you don't get out of there it will get worse. I thought my boyfriend had changed when he went for help, but he hit me a few times when I was pregnant (only on my legs) and that changed my perspective on him.
But yes... don't listen to your boyfriend! No relationship is perfect, but no normal or healthy relationship has a person hitting the other. You may care of this guy that you are with right now, but you need to put yourself and your safety first before him and your relationship.
This is NOT normal. If thinks it is, he is either trying to make you believe this so you will accept it, or he really does believe it himself(if he saw it as a child).
Somehow i do not think he truthfully believes this. Either way, he had a very unhealthy view on how to behave when you are in a relationship.
I wouldnt adivse you let this carry on any futher hun.
xxx.
You know what that means. He's claiming that the greater popluation accepts that kind of behaviour which is just not true.
Dtop his BS right now by contacting a counselor and running that by him or her.
You're not crazy, but may be on your way to becoming so if he continues this.
Stop him in his tracks by filling your own head with information.
i say this because my best friend is in an abusive relationship that has been on and off for 5 years. shes is only 22 and is the smartest girl. she majored in psychology and women studies in undergrad and is on her way to becoming a doctor. so she ISNT STUPID or CRAZY either!!
please believe me, if you can get out of this now, i would highly recommend it. i have never heard of a case where a relationship starts off mildly abusive and then that just goes away. it wont. it will only get worse.
i am really sorry for everything that you are going through and i know i may sound harsh but i wish someone had told my best friend this advice 5 years ago.. good luck!
