Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I definitely agree that being invalidated or having what you went through minimised by others, particularly others that you feel you ought to be able to rely on for support (family, close friends, etc) can very much add to the pain and can sometimes be considered fresh abuse in and of itself - adding insult to injury.
I hope you are able to find the healing you seek.
Sorry for what you've gone through
and are going through.
Go on practicing self-care.
Sending hugs and healing prayers.
It is hard hearing excuses for abusive/stalking behaviour but you're the one that knows the reality. You know the truth and you're dealing with it the way you see fit. Unfortunately sometimes this means having to lose a few mutual friends, but better that than being constantly on edge and uncomfortable. Plus, you'll know who your true friends are.
Recently a friend and I had something similar happen with an abusive person (actually, he was pretty much stalking my friend and blaming me for her disinterest) People were saying things like "He's lost his job, living at home, in love with someone who doesn't love him. He's just in a tough spot." Well tough spot or not, he's better out of our lives, whatever their opinions.
Stay strong :-)
