Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
A good friend sent this to me yesterday. I thought it was an amazing statement and wanted to share:
I refuse to stay in something that isn't real.
I'm through pretending.
I'm through fighting alone.
You're only real when it benefits you.
You only care when I walk away.
The only time you make me feel perfect is when I'm hiding my imperfections.
My heart deserves a love that comforts my insecurities.
Life is too short to settle.
I didn't change.....
I just opened my eyes up to the truth.

Love the part about comforting my securities. That feels like a fantasy to me.
If I looked sad, "Smile!" (Command, not sympathetic entreaty)
"I'm ashamed to go out with you!"
"Look at all these other women who made an effort!"
You know what, you abusive jerk? I made an effort for10 years, but you are arrogant, and selfish, and shallow... and your standard is according to some perpetual shape-shifter you have in your mind. Go and get a plastic doll and leave me the hell alone.
