Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

I felt this too at times.
I coped with this by attending an out-patient program for 3 months. it was strictly for women dealing with trauma and substance abuse. I tended to drink on a regular basis, but functioned well and suffer depression. a few women there took a temporary leave of absence from work. there was also the option for 1/2 day programs.
they stressed mindfulness exercises in which you can find much information on line about.
there was also much discussion there about triggers, stress, and anxiety. you mentioned the negative comments and controlling actions make you very sensitive.
you asked, "And what you may do to try to stop it from taking over your emotions. I know it doesn't have to do with me"
when I was feeling very angry, due to abuse, I would react sometimes instantly and unpleasantly to say the least. I think that you have done the first step which is to end the relationship with your abuser.
also, if you are truly unhappy at your job, you are taking action rather than accepting your postion and that is admirable.
I tell myself, when I'm not depressed, that this is not a permanent situation and things are going to get better. and, I have had much employment challenges due being a single mother and the economy crashing, etc.
life can be difficult and you are only human. when you are physically and emotionally abused you can react as you are now. I was wondering if you are in counseling? I know it has helped me a lot, to be able to discuss the many emotions that go with getting divorced and trying to persevere. wish you all the best.
I would really try to just accomplish tasks at work as well as you can. But if you really feel it is a toxic environment, you are doing the right thing by looking for something else. In the meantime, be very good to yourself. We talk a lot here about self-care. This can be doing simple chores of daily routines, a special treat for yourself or anything that you do for yourself. Perhaps this will help you get through the harder days at work and when your ex is being a jerk during pick-up times.
