Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
My parents are seeing a huge improvement on the littlest things like how I went out and achieved my dreams and scored an amazing job and went a bought my first car all on my own. It had definitely opened my eyes on who needs to be here for the long run and who isn't worth the time and effort.
I think the biggest improvement is me going and taking on the world exploring new things and meeting tons of new people. Buying all these things I dreamed of buying (even if the car was put into the shop a week after I bought it). You just never know how bad it is until you reflect and look back on it.
Dr. Ramani has a video on YouTube about ruminating after leaving a narcissist. I don't know if that was your situation, but it was helpful to me to hear on that video that many people have trouble with the very thing you talking about - continuing to think back on the hurtful relationship and having trouble truly getting them out of your head. I'm trying to use "distract" lately a lot. :)
