Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
It's always so good to know when another woman has taken her first steps toward freedom! Thanks for sharing this.
Transitions are seldom easy
but you will make it through
to somewhere better.
I applaud your courage
and strength and all the
aspects of character that
have to be there for you to
make such a difficult decision
and then act on it.
Please take very, very good care of yourself.
You are a flower on the stem of the univers.
YYYYYYYYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy you!!!!!!!!!
In April 08, I ended what was the most damaging relationship of my adult life. I lost everything to this man and experieced all levels of abuse from him, right down to financial ruin. Last October I lost my Condo, and my small business folded. I placed my then 16 yr old daughter in the care of a friend, set my son (then 18) in his own 1 bedroom apt, and was set to place the remainder of my things in storage and sleep in my car if I had too. In a Canadian winter, I was not looking forward to that. In a last ditch effort i placed an ad on Kijiji which i guess is like Craigslist in the USA.. One hr later I had a email from a man who had a 2 bedroom apt for a very reasonable price,. I saw it I took it. I had enuff money to live for the next 2 months. I left my daughter with my friend since the future was uncertain, and I went to work p/t cleaning offices.
Skip ahead one year later.
I live in that nice 2 bdrm apt, my ex is finally gone, my daughter came back to me last Dec. My son is in College. I have a bit saved up, I have my car still (almost lost it) AND......I just received my official acceptance letter today, to go back to college in February-11. New career, New lease on life. New beginning.
When we sever the ties with these men, all abusers really...it can be excruciating. But at least that pain of seperation does come to an end..unlike the day to day pain we suffer at their hand. Literally and figuratively.
You just keep moving away, and ahead from him and it will all come together. You will get through it, and be so much happier for it.
Best of luck on this journey =)
LadyR - kudos to you. You have seen you light at the end of the tunnel.
You ladies rock!!!!
I pray that you find a happy life for you and your son - my son is the same age!
Take care and remember you are not alone. Good on you for getting out now - I was with my husband for almost 16 years...stayed years and years too long.
Be proud of you :)
Take care.
