Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Perhaps you can start dropping comments about how he really deserves time away from the kids. Or saying he must really miss going to his friends' places like he used to. Whatever you think will get him to spend the night elsewhere.
Or...anyone you can sleep over at their place? Maybe go visit family with the kids and tell him he doesn't "have" to go. Or tell him he "deserves" time to himself. Or not say anything and go.
If you have a close friend with kids around the same age maybe you can do a slumber party with the kids and the moms....at her house.
I'm not saying he deserves anything good. It's just to make him think that he deserves whatever it is you want him to do. Survival, right?
By the way, you don't deserve this.
Also, if you suspect he might drink and drive....
I have a friend who for revenge had someone else sitting in their car regularly outside a bar her ex went to. Everytime the ex left the bar they made an anonymous call to the cops with his license plate about him driving drunk. Who says he has to be an ex before doing this? It could give you a night of peace. You could conveniently have your phone "accidently" turned off or off the hook and never get the call. Or even say you turned the ringer off while you took a nap and never remembered to turn it back on.
I hope you find a way out. It is harder when you have kids.
