Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
And my husbands also said nobody would want me and I proved them wrong too.
MendingToday, what the heck! I don't believe you! Hahaha ;D
I don't have any unique talents per say, but I do a lot of things that are irreplaceable, or make a difference to people every day. I'm a mom, a daughter, a girlfriend, a teacher, and I do things that I enjoy everyday. I'm happy and proud of all those things.
Great thread.
Talent is great.
Strength is great
as well.
Sometimes doing
the hard thing is
a victory to be
celebrated also.
Sometimes even
silliness is great.
Awesome shout outs
to all who attempt
the cool thing,
the hard thing,
the challenging thing,
the exciting thing,
the creative thing,
the quiet thing,
the new thing,
the old thing,
the useful thing,
the totally fun thing,
the giving thing,
the self-caring thing
and all the kinds of things
our abusers fought so hard
to make us deny ourself
and to finally forget.
Good for all of us!!!!!!!!!!
It's so amazing because every day I am realizing how much my life has changed in such simple ways - when I have time I plan on writing a journal entry about it.
The cool thing I did lately is find an apartment. To me this is not only a relief so I can start the legal process but it is also a slap in the face to my stbx because he seems to think that since I am not from this country (even though I speak the language fluently) that I don't know how things work here and that I am incapable of doing anything without his help here. Well. I did it. I got my OWN place. In another city I am not familiar with. All. Without. His. "HELP." I just want to call him and say "BOOOOYAAAA!"
Ok I feel better now :)
One thing I def plan to do before too long is skydive :)
lol @ bottledbreath high five! Your probably a working one though. I soon hope to get something! I pray daily for it! I want to go back and get my bachelor's degree that's what I think, stops me. I can't get passed math, go figure when I was a little girl got the snot beat out of me if I couldn't get the math question right. It's from childhood.
PurpleViolet Good for You! I admire a woman who can look past
a man's abuse and decide for herself what she is going to do
with her life. Your proof that what Dr Phil said, why are you waiting
for a man to decide what is going to happen to your future.
Love it! Love this positivity. There is hope!
I hate this idea we have in our over-achieving culture that we have to necessarily meet this societal's idea of "success" for our efforts to be worthwhile and pride-worthy. Like we have to meet these ideals of having the house, car, kids, spouse, plasma TV, be well educated and have an impressive job, be special or famous, or a million different things that are not defined by an individual definition of success. Why can't success and worth just be me being the best me I can be? Why can't success be an ability to be in the moment and live it and appreciate it, why can't it be feeling good and happy, to be flexible and adaptable instead of trapped in our own minds and pasts, and expectations of the future?
I have shifted my focus and am trying to get rid of all these nameless, faceless people on this "should" committee in my head that tells me what I should be doing and how I'm not doing it. I tried to fire those bastards but they keep showing up for work. If I am good to people, if I take care of myself and allow myself enjoyment-that is all I need to do. Think about the post the other day about the people in the grocery store who paid for the OP's groceries - that is not giving millions to charities, or giving your life to a cause- but that made a difference to that person in that moment-a big difference. That is what we have opportunity to do every day just be being decent people and that has tremendous value.
Mending-I have a math learning disability and was terrified of math when I went back to school. There is help available for the subjects you struggle with. It's okay to get help sometimes, and it can make all the difference. If I can get through those classes, you can too. Got statistics coming up again. Arg!
When my boyfriend got stabbed and was in the hospital a hundred people, some of them he didn't even remember, organized and created a fund to help with medical bills insurance didn't cover. These were people who had struggles themselves, and couldn't afford to send money-but they did-sometimes just a few dollars. They did this not because my boyfriend was some all important person who changed their lives, but because in every interaction he had with all these people he made them feel good. And that money-although it didn't put a dent in the medical bills had great value for showing the goodness of people and how small things have meaning in a time when we were being faced with an inexplicable act of pure evil. This meant all the difference in the world to us at the time.
What you do matters, even if it's not some big, grand gesture, even if no one every appreciates your art, or your talents, or you kindness or your uniqueness. You may just never have the opportunity to see how much-but you can find happiness in knowing this about yourself. Remember that when you feel weak because you are kind!
I just signed a new contract for a new song/ release yesterday! :) It's amazing how many times when I let bad stuff go, the good stuff is so close afterwards!
Blessings!
