Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I was thinking that perhaps I need to go rescue a dog or cat from one of our local shelters. It would perhaps save a life and might help me to cope with my depression and lonliness.
Maybe if I had something to love that would love me back, something that could be beside me in my low times for comfort, it might bring me out of my sadness?
I currently own a horse. He is awesome of course but you can't cuddle inside with a horse. I do notice when I love on him, my mood is better for a bit.

Pandora1979, Loved the story of your service dog. I think animals that can do all those things are amazing. I am sorry you have to worry like you do. :(
I have heard the same about Parrots, that they live a long time, beautiful animals though.
Empress, I agree. I notice a change myself in my mood when I pet my horse, hug him or kiss his muzzle, Perhaps I am odd, but I prefer his horsey smell to most perfumes. LOL

BUT, you can give love and know that you are doing something to make the world a much better place. MORE Baby birds live when parents can easily find food. Birds eat insects in addition to seeds and nuts. Birds poop undigested seeds spreading plants and replanting the de-forested areas due to forest fires and harvesting.
Squirrels and chipmunks feed larger predators which keeps the cycle of life going in nature. (This is usually once the animal has passed into old age. When my last pet was dying from cancer, I really wondered if nature was not better about this issue. But that is personal to me.)
So even small things like water and a handfull of seeds tossed in an area away from traffic is a blessing to the world.
You can do great things in very small ways!
