Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Just because you are remaining no contact doesn't mean you don't care. You must protect yourself.
((((HUGS))))
Even if his condition was brought on by stress, it was NOT your fault. You have every right to survive and take care of yourself and that's all you were trying to do.
I'm sorry that you are going through this. I do agree with the other posters. You can feel bad, but you need to keep the no contact for your own health and well-being issues.

Thinking of you and big hugs xx
Your husband has his family around him. He will be okay.
Please, above all, don't blame yourself. Even if he did have a heart attack (and I will say also, he wouldn't be the first to fake a heart attack or other major health issue as a hook to try to recapture an escaping victim), it's not your fault. Even if the heart attack was brought on by stress, it's not your fault. Even if the stress is the fact that you left because of his abuse, it's STILL not your fault - it's his. You leaving was a natural consequence of his abuse. Anything that flows from it is also a natural consequence of his abuse.
I just want to share that my husband tried to pass off wanting to harm himself, "so sick ... have to go to hospital," etc, and tonight, " I am shaking, dizzy and can only sleep" but two sentences later, "have to take sleeping pills because I can't sleep." and then a few sentences later..."I have to take the rest of the week off because I am so sick and have to get to doctors to take care of me."
I finally called a mutual friend who had offered to contact him when I was worried so I didn't have to get sucked in....
Turns out that yes, he took his prescribed med (no one knows what he is taking) as well as two over the counter sleep aids and some beer. That would make anyone a little dizzy, red faced, etc.
His friend will monitor---
My friend played it out for me... "he emailed you a few times the since Sunday. You did not respond and he emailed more frequently with more intensity and finally played on your care giver side saying that you were the only one who could talk to the doctors and help him because that is what you always did for him.... he manipulated."
I am sorry that all of us here face manipulation.
I am sorry that you feel badly Needa.
I know it doesn't necessarily help.... because I feel it too.
i wish we could stop the manipulation and just have a chance to breath. Again, I know your situation is different. I hope you can find peace. I know that I am suppose to find peace by stopping his emails and I haven't---- but I have stopped responding directly to them....
Good Luck Needa--- I truly wish there was a more tangible means of helping....Sending Hugs and Strength to you!
"Say a prayer for him and let God do his work. Its hard for us to stay out of the way but its for the best."
Maybe I will take that saying to get through the next day....it is nice and helpful for both the spouse and the survivor....thanks!
