Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I'm really confused about how I should be feeling right now. I heard from my abuser's former son-in-law that she is pregnant.
I emailed her to ask how far along she is and if the child could be mine. The first response was a rudely worded, "It's none of your business." So I replied that I have the means to find her and that I intended to do so around Christmas and would insist on a paternity test.
That got a whole different response. For the first time since I kicked her out she was actually civil to me. In an instant message she said she's not pregnant, only three weeks late and that she had started her period. Then in an email she claims she took a pregnancy test at a doctor's office (not very likely, getting her to go to the doctor at all, even for obviously serious issues was like pulling teeth) and it was negative and again asserted she has started her cycle.
I feel quite certain she is lying and that she is pregnant. Never having fathered any children I am excited at the possibility of having passed on my genes but at the same time I have no desire whatsoever for a child of mine to be raised by her.
I have no intention of doing anything in the immediate future but I was hoping for a little input to help me clarify my feelings on the matter.

I understand that excitement to learn you are going to be a parent, been there twice!
It's likely to be a very bumpy road ahead though, so good to explore options now in case.
