Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I can't forgive my ex and he was never as physically violent to me as the police report states Chris Brown was with Rihanna.
Personally, forgiveness won't set me free. Moving on, accepting it happened, letting go a little bit more each day of the lies I was telling myself and being told by him, releasing the memories. That's where my power comes from. Forgiving would be condoning and that's not something I can ever do.
I wish she hadn't collaborated with him. There's going to be so many young men and women watching her and getting the wrong idea.
Would I forgive him? Well, I forgave my own ex far too many times, but I would not forgive him now.
I know and feel it in my bones what it is like to fall for an abuser's lies. I have been in Rihanna's spot several times, forgiving my abuser (I was never assaulted like Rihanna was, in such a brutal fashion).
I feel for Rihanna as well, but again, I know what it's like to go back to an abuser - I have done it too when my friends were outraged I was going back. She is making her choices. And maybe she is not ready to let go yet. It's just that she is placing herself in a lot of danger by returning to him, if that is the case.
What I find disgusting though about Chris Brown is that the media has more or less forgiven him, even awarding him Grammys. I realize he may very well deserve the music awards, because it is his music that is being judged. However, he as a representative role model for young men, and human being, has not done any amends, he has not shown any progress in detaching from his abusive behaviours. This is my personal opinion, so I am sorry if I sound harsh and judgmental. I do believe, and this is my belief, that celebrities have social responsibility. They have huge power over culture and society. So a celebrity like Chris Brown is sending the message (the media being complicit in this) that you will be forgiven for beating up a woman sooner or later without having to make amends to work on yourself, and maybe even flourish as an artist.
Rihanna will find out where she stands again with Chris. However, she will most likely be hurt again, one way or another.

Rihanna has a long,
fullfilling life that
completes her as
a woman and
an artist
and not a life

stunted and
cut short by
dysfunction
and abuse.
