Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

many if not most of my
clients have told me that
current events have triggered
them to some or great extent.
Speaking personally,
I think one of my most
intense reactions was
provoked a couple days.
There are around a dozen
states that enacted laws to
prevent abusive puppy mills
where whole litters of helpless,
innocent animals were produced
and then mistreated to maximize
profits. Those states depended
on a federally run website that
posted lists of offending puppy
mills. With that information,
the states could prosecute,
and puppies and potential
dog owners were protected.
At some point last week,
without a word to the public,
those lists were taken down.
Why?
Who does it serve to
return to abusing new-born
animals and the people
hoping to have a healthy,
happy animal in their life?
When determining
abuse, seeing patterns
is generally the key.
This action fits a
rapidly emerging
pattern.
Personally,
I am sickened.
I make it a habit to
not bring partisan
politics into work
and I try hard to
follow that policy.
That having been
said, I just wanted
to say that professionally
I work with clients
trying to stay stable
in what they feel is
increasing instability.
Personally,
I'm constantly sickened.
As far as finding a safe place?
Self-care.
Self-Care.
SELF-CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was hanging on fb and headlines for a couple of weeks, but have had to stop. I do sign petitions regularly because I want to make my voice heard, but I can't any longer steep myself in the horror. The fear is, of course, that things may get much much worse.
I'm trying to put my focus on my life and my kids. There is still beauty and joy to be found in the world...
this quote is attributed
to Gandhi:
Whenever I despair, I remember that the way of truth and love has always won. There may be tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they may seem invincible, but in the end, they always fail. Think of it: always.
