The 'intent vs meaning to' thing is a brick wall that my husband and I smash into all the time now.
In his mind, because he didn't INTEND to abuse me, it wasn't his INTENTION to hurt me, it doesn't count as abuse.
I like (well, I can't say that I like, but it interested me) to see that batterers and child sex abusers both have that same excuse:
I lost control. I couldn't help myself.
Reading this article this morning really adds a piece of the missing puzzle to me.
While I knew for certain that my husband does feel that none of it was his fault and I feel differently, I was unable to formulate or put it into words, and reading this article really filed in the blanks for me, and made me see my husband as EVEN MORE OF AN ABUSER than I gave him credit for.
I'm feeling less and less guilty about my October leaving date.
