Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

I would not cater to a man at the expense of losing a group of friends. Next, he may not like the time you spend with your family, or the amount of time you're at work, etc. Look closely at how he views you, then decide if you want to continue this way. This is how he is, he probably won't change.
If you are in college, contact your school's counseling center. Also contact your local women's shelter and ask them to help you make a SAFE plan to leave.
If you are in high school, tell your parents or another trusted adult like an aunt or your physician and/or your school counselor.
If you can't talk to anyone I listed here, PLEASE call the National DV hotline. 800−799−7233
This is not the be all end all definition of abuse, but it's a start. http://www.thehotline.org/is-this-abuse/

It doesn't matter if it's not "violent." That's because ALL abuse is violent in one way or another and it ALL causes deep wounds/damage.
