Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Abusers HATE your happiness.
To them, it means that
someone else in the
world feels good,
and that's unacceptable. . . .
PARTICULARLY
if it's their victim
who's feeling good.
Good for YOU for
BREAING FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BREAKING FREE!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad you are starting to see through his bs, and I'm glad you are sticking to no contact.
Keep taking good care of yourself.
This sounds very similar to discrediting your job, etc. They don't want you to have any outside power supply or lifelines! You are doing great! Congratulations!
My husband HATED me having a job. Even though I didn't earn anything then and it was only voluntary, he would complain about how much I talked about it at home (enjoyment), how much time I spent there versus doing housework (enjoyment).
On my days off, he would "punish" me by telling me to do all the stuff I hadn't done earlier because of work. Even if he had offered to do half the dishes, that privilege was taken away if I had no work one day. It was as if he was making me pay, time-wise, for working!
But the most infuriating thing of all was that he wouldn't actually come out and SAY he hated it. Even he knew that would be unacceptable, I think. So he would just make life hard for me and create a terrible atmosphere at home instead - going into silent moods, getting up in the middle of the night and waking me up to say he was going for a "walk", and leaving me unable to sleep for wondering why.
I could never be at peace. The better I did, the worse "we" did because he behaved like a jealous kid. I just wanted to grab him and say, "FFS, will you grow up??"
When it came to his career, I was there for him without question during every job move (that often entailed a house move too), everything that he asked of me (for example, proofreading through his work), because it never occurred to me not to be! Why wouldn't you be there to support the career of the person you love?
But he didn't get that concept at all. When it came to my career, he would always behave like it was a thorn in his side, and as if I shouldn't be doing it. It was not only demoralising but irritating. That irritation spawned the anger I needed to get away.
Well done you for all the things you HAVE accomplished! Including getting away from that controlling man. I agree that he was just trying to do you down so that you would never leave him. Congrats on breaking free!
By the way, that accusation of cheating he made?? That's just because he wants to think he still owns you. But guess what? You're not his to be jealous of!
Take care of yourself, and enjoy your freedom XXX
but then, our group leader chose me to be a lead investigator, and she started filming a pilot, and had a producer who was interested in it (it would have been a canadian version of ghost hunters, had it worked out).. and all of a sudden, monkey head was all over me, complaining about the time it took.. yet, if it had worked out, it would have been one of those wonderful dreams that rarely happen to anyone, and would have been so good for our family, financially..
but yeah, he couldn't have something cool like that happen to me!
if the shoe had been on the other foot, I would have moved heaven and earth to make it happen for him....
I am sitting at the airport leaving on a trip for the first time with my friends since I married my H. I just filed for divorce. This morning he passed me by and said I couldn't be gone long enough. So as I drove here I felt his negativity on my shoulders. Feeling bad as usual. Then I logged in here as I wait for my flight and read your response to this post. And whamo....you have me the reminder I so badly needed today on why I am leaving him.
I too got treated so poorly because I had a career. I loved my job and got paid well for it. If I was 5 mins later coming home I was punished for days with pouting an silence. It was guy wrenching. All because I worked hard. Oh and did he love the money!
Thank you for making the difference for me today. I can now take that weight off my shoulder and enjoy! Bless you! :)
Seriously, go you!! Let him spout bitterness and whatever... because it's just sour grapes. You're getting your life back the way YOU want it, and he doesn't like it.
Have a brilliant time on your trip, and I hope the divorce goes smoothly so you are officially free from his toxicity ASAP.
Hugs and good thoughts coming your way! XXX
