Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I don't think that was the intention at all, but that was my first take on it with what I went through personally. I didn't see her AMA performance. I also couldn't watch the end of the video... the violence was just too much.
Sorry, I probably should not have even brought it up.
She just comes across as such a powerful woman who has tacked subjects from bulemia, anorexia, toxic relationships, self esteem issues, etc..
I guess I wanted to believe her message was one of strength, in overcoming a bad relationship and fighting to regain yourself and your independance. I watched to the end and honestly, it is like a ballet-dance..it is disturbing but I guess it is left open to interpretation. Perhaps it depends on where a person is at in their journey?
I'm not ready to try again, but I'm trying not to close my mind to the possibility either.
I also think the choreography is genious even if it did trigger me.
I, like you, am not ready to try again either. I do see others dating successfully and being happy and to be honest, I want what they have and it hurts from time to time, but I am still too shattered.
Also I have to be willing to take chances, be social, and well alot of things that I am not built up to yet.
As for triggers, sometimes they can come from the strangest things, even commercials, like if a person in the commercial looks like my ex or acts or says something he would.
I long for the day the comes along that there will be no triggers of the ex, of a previous ex or my toxic family. :)
I didn't see it on TV, but just watched the video of her performance on YouTube and all I can say is OMG. To think she was actually singing live (and doing a good job of it) while doing all that physical action.
Don't know if everyone here is already aware of it, but another song I love is called "According to You" by Orianthi. This one is about verbal abuse. It might be a trigger for some people but I do think the message is empowering.
As for the title..it does kind of hint towards hanging on..TRY?
So who knows..guess it is open to interpretation, but normally she seems to lean towards woman power with her songs.
@Molly327..I have heard that song and yes it is a good one. :)
