Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I'm really glad you're not living together, but I am sorry that he is still hurting you and your kids.
Some people talk openly here & some don't because they, like you have fears of being found. Some post more general, less identifiable, information here in the group.
Another place to post more specific stuff is in our journals which can be made totally private, open only to friends or open to everyone.
Important to know:
If you leave your journals open to everyone, DS arbitrarily posts links to open journals under the mail group page. So you can see for yourself, go to this link and scroll all the way to the bottom. You will see various members' journals and photos linked.

You can also make your profile private to DS friends only, all of DS or the entire internet.
This gives more info about privacy and safety on DS

And here is a link that explains how to change your privacy settings.

Even though you aren't living together, you might want to have your phone, tablet & computer checked for tracking devices. Just in case he installed them before you split. Also, it wouldn't hurt to change your passwords every so often. Abusers have definitely been known to hack into phones, etc. from a distance.
It's good to NOT put any identifying info in your profile and make your user name something he would never associate with you. If you need to change your user name, you can contact DS and they will do that for you.

I haven't lived with my ex-husband for several years, but things are far from peaceful because of his visitation rights. You're not alone.
So I think I want to post details in a journal, and make it private, it sounds like. But one of my main reasons for seeking out this forum is that I really need to connect with others. I don't have many people I can talk to who get what this is like, and nights when my PTSD flares up I really crave being around other people (even online) to keep the anxiety at bay. So how can I do that, but still keep myself safe? Maybe post generally in the forums and set a journal accessible to friends only?
Thanks again for the nice welcome. It's good to find a place where I feel heard!
