Phobia Support Group
A phobia (from the Greek "fear"), is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities, or persons. The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive, unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. When the fear is beyond one's control, or if the fear is interfering with daily life, then a diagnosis under one of the anxiety disorders can be made.
I don't know what to offer as far as advice...maybe just call a crisis line when you wake up, since you don't want to bother your family? Or keep something next to your bed that calms you down...book, music, turn on the TV and watch a funny movie...anything really.
Sorry I can't offer more...feel free to message me if you ever want to talk, and keep fighting:)
What I'm doing now is seeing a therapist once a week, and I'm on paxil.
I'm not saying you necessarily need an antidepressant for your anxiety, but talking to someone can DEFINITELY help. I always feel much better after having a session with my therapist.
I also feel a lot better whenever I talk to someone when I'm actually feeling anxious. I love coming on here and just talking to others, especially because they understand what I'm going through.
So if you ever need to talk, just message me. :)
I'd sure like to know what the root cause is for all of my fears and phobias....:(
I hope you can get help...
Praying,
Tracey
