Phobia Support Group
A phobia (from the Greek "fear"), is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities, or persons. The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive, unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. When the fear is beyond one's control, or if the fear is interfering with daily life, then a diagnosis under one of the anxiety disorders can be made.
I have emetophobia (fear of vomiting) but when I was a child i used to fear fainting as well, actually it used to alternate from one to the other, one day I feared fainting & the next vomiting!!.
when I was about 10 11 years old I was terrified of fanting.
Now at 42 vomiting is my main fear.
I still get light headed but I donr fear it any longer!!. sorry I dont have any advice as to how to get over it! I think we just learn to live with phobias rather than get over them!. My fear now is vomiting & I am trying to find a way to live with it.
perhaps we could help each other out!!
I'm here if u want to chat
hugs xxxx Judith
