The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

Yoda was my Glue

Well what can I say about 2008. I am going to ring it out. My Mom passed in March. I lost my dear friend in May. The only thing that kept me from falling apart was my darling Yoda Mae Blossom. Uncondtional Luvchild. She left us for doggie heaven on August 28th, 2008. I am sad.

You and are not having a good 2008. My wife left me and that ended in divorce (which I did not want), lost my house (in the divorce), my $$ and now my beloved Oso is now gone. Everything that defined who I am, kept me going, gave me a purpose and made me happy is now gone.
I am hugging you from afar.

Hugs to you both. Yeah, sounds like it's been a tough year for many folks. I have lost 2 beloved cats so far this year. I have another cat named Yoda (great name, huh?!) who has been quite ill as well. It's been difficult, esp. since my boyfriend's been deployed and will be going to Iraq soon.
Let's just hope 2009 will be a much better year!

Bless your heart....I have not had a good year either losing my beloved Katie. I also had a relationship end and lost the friendship of two people. All the loss really hurts. I think you and Patrick have me beat for a bad 2008. I keep saying the rest of 2008 is going to be better, but I am still crying over Katie and my little white dog, Kujo, is blind, deaf and has a heart murmur. I feel so lonely without Katie and am constantly checking my little Ku to see if he is still breathing. Thinking about losing him is getting to me as well. We all deserve great 2009. I am going to get a tree and put Katie's name on it with a little name plate. I also cry a lot, which is very healing. We will get through this together. Debbie
