The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

We had to let go of our beautiful shepherd/collie mix today. He was 13 years old, had canine lymphoma and was undergoing chemo treatments for a year and a half. I'm not a spiritual or religious person and realized I maybe shouldn't be in this group. But I know you all understand what I'm going through.

Hi Rosie, You belong here as much as any of us. A broken Heart from loosing our beloved furbaby is so painful....we all know this in our own personal way.
I am really sorry for your loss. I know you loved your sweet baby and He sure knew it too. You know you did all that you possibly could do for him. I am sorry!

Im very sorry for your loss. Your doggie is beautiful. Im not religious either, but the Rainbow Bridge poem has been very comforting to me in the last 3 weeks. The idea that Simon, my kitty of 15 years, is no longer in pain also gives me some comfort. Wishing you peace and healing.
