The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

Never knew about using burnt toast as activated charcoal. Will have to remember that.

For this reason I always wear thick leather gloves and when necessary, a long sleeved shirt to prevent contact and transfer indirectly, such as having a cigarette or grabbing something to eat. I learned this the hard way after touching a decorative hot pepper plant and then rubbed my eyes! Bad move and it was irritated even after irrigating it underneath the faucet for a while.
They also separate me from the biting, stinging insects above and below the surface mulch, such as centipedes, millipedes and a number of spiders, the Brown Recluse spider being the most dangerous around here. Theyre identified by a brown violin shaped area on top of its middle body, the bite may not show any immediate symptoms, and can over time lead to arthritic type complaints in the joints. Fortunately theyre shy and nonaggressive and prefer dark and damp places.
