Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.
Is it possible your unhappiness is based on your grief? For me, I found blocking my emotions caused a ripple affect. I may not feel sad, but I also don't feel joy. It's like being numb, living in limbo. People around you may not understand or know how to help.
I hope you're able to move on and find joy in your life.
Hugs xoxo
To nacydan, I'm starting to believe that my unhappiness isn't based on my greif but more so my life in general. Maybe if I was happier in like I said marriage and job I wouldn'd be so caught up in the saddness of lossing our cat.
To annettear, I am trying to muster up the energy to put into something I enjoy, but the unhappiness is draining me. Some days I have to find the energy to get out the bed or house. I've tried to list at least 3 things I am grateful for, and I do have somethings to be grateful for, but focusing on those things is really hard at times.
Thank you both again this helps just to be able to talk to someone who understands. (((Hugs))) to you
And yes I have thought about volunteering at an animal shelter. The shelter we adopted our two new kitties from have many animals who need love. Since I can't adopt them all I am looking into volunteering at the shelters.
I pray you all get thru your grief as well and someday be able to look back and smile.
Thank you all for the support. It's good to be able to talk to people who can relate.
Hamlet went to Heaven suddenly and unexpectedly on 12/7/13. I adopted him when my brother died almost 9 years ago so I relate to the missing & struggling to feel happy part.
For me each loss has been a trauma. Trying to give myself the gift of time...some days are easier that others...wishing for you stlaries411 something - no matter how small - that will bring you joy every day.
I do think your crying and upset for both- your baby and your marriage. I struggle with both. I miss Lily and I know my husband is there for me but I wonder if he gets sick of me talking and crying about her so much. He did point out that I did out get first before anyone, including the kids and looking back I did that. I see it now so not only do I miss her like crazy but the guilt from not being there for everyone sets in.
I'm sending you big hugs!
