Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

Tonight at 11:30 PM will be a month since my world shattered and I lost my poor Peanut (Sun Conure). I still cant believe a month has gone by I still cant sleep right and feel bad for making my husband who snores sleep in the spare room but I cant sleep in there which was the room her cage was in. I cant sleep in the family room on the couch because she died there. I hate having a new routine. I hate not having her to come home to. I hate going out because I would rather be with her and I still feel guilty not being home at the times at night of which I would be when she was still with us. I belong to a site on facebook on grieving pets and reincarnation and afterlife. Some have received signs from their pet. I ask for signs but havent gotten anything. My husband thinks the bird that still stays around and has made our patio their night time home daily since then is Peanuts sign. I just want to know why she died, what killed her and if she suffered or what plainly happened. I dont know if ill have peace until I know that. If it was something I did then I can grieve that but if it was just something that happened without warning I can grieve that.

hi and i understand how you are feeling, when i think back to 1 month after clay died,it seems like a haze.i was in shock, denial and pure devastation was going around in my head.it was like my worst nightmare come true, with no escape.im sorry you dont feel like you have closure cause you dont know what she died of.i know what happened to clay and the guilt of it nearly killed me,so maybe its a blessing you dont know what caused it.i know you might not feel like that and are tormented by the "whys" and "what happened" but i hope you can find some peace soon.the old cliche "time heals" is so true because it really does.i still find it hard to adjust to the "new routine" and always am thinking what i would have been doing had clay been here, just cant help it,its like another lifetime,a chapter thats over and cant be re-visited.maybe that bird coming around at night is a sign, hope you can see it as one,re-incarnation,its a nice thought, maybe it will bring you some comfort.look after yourself, hugs to you xx

It has been five weeks today since my beloved cat Lucy was put to sleep. She was sick for five weeks and I kept thinking that she was going to have a turnaround. The vet prescribed appetite stimulators that worked for awhile and then she would stop eating again so he would prescribe some more. Her blood work showed internal bleeding but x-rays showed nothing. He told me she had to be humanely put to sleep. It is strange not to fill her water dish every morning and make sure her food dish is topped up. I am adjusting to a new routine as well. I could have sworn I sensed her around me yesterday trying to impress to me that everything was OK and not to worry. Hugs

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
