Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

After Simon died, my husband, who is emotional and speaks what he thinks before considering the impact on others, would frequently talk about how much he missed Simon. Understanding that I wasn't the only one dealing with grief, I tried to be consoling and supportive until the pain became too great. In the nicest way possible I let him know that it was very difficult for me at this time to talk abot Simon and asked if he would give me more time. I need to add that my husband tried to be supportive and never once blamed me for Simon's death. I did that all on my own. Just about two months ago, he brought up Simon again and I told him I still wasn't ready and asked if he could talk about Simon with someone else. His response was rolling his eyes. I can't begin to tell you how alone, angry, and hurt I felt at that moment. It is interesting how something like the death of a pet can highlight what isn't going right in one's relationships. I have never felt so alone in a relationship in my life. If I had the money to live on my own, I would. I'm still paying off the significant vet bills and not once has he offered to help. Instead he chose to gamble away thousands of dollars. I feel so alone. Sometimes the pain is so great that I hurt physically. How could your whole life go to crap in 9 months. How can that be possible?

The disturbed child...

I was in an abusive relationship for 17 years it's the only relationship I've ever even been in so what I thought of as love im now finding out wasn't love at all and that sucks my dad says things like I just need to let it go and it's insulting frankly. I let it go for 17 years just because I'm no longer being abused doesn't mean the pain and anger are gone. I refuse to let it go when I was...
I hope tomorrow brings you one step closer to peace.
