Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

Today would have been Ruperts 11th birthday. I had already been thinking before he passed that I needed to make my annual trip to the store to get his puppy ice cream. We always got that for him for his b-day, and would sing to him.
I used to say that all the fireworks were for him!
I miss him so much. Its still hard to accept that hes really gone. It feels like a nightmare that Ill wake up from. I keep hoping that, at some point, life will start to feel normal again.
I love him so much, and just wish I could hold him and never let go.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

there will be a point that you will start to feel normal again, but right now it's not that time. You have to take your own time to grieve.
The first two weeks after losing my kitty, it was like my mind wasn't clicking, I couldn't even think straight.
I realize that some people would think how silly of me to feel this way, it was just a cat. But, to those people I say, "then you have never had a pet that found its way into your heart and was part of your family."
Just keep on writing here on this site and how you feel.
Your in my prayers, thoughts and heart.

Ive been seriously thinking about adopting a dog from a shelter. The problem is I know my husband isnt ready. I brought it up on Saturday, and he said that he would be expecting a new dog to be Rupert. I know I wouldnt, so Im not concerned for myself. I know, though, that I need to be sensitive to my husbands feelings, and not rush him. Its really going to be hard to resist, though! I just have to STOP looking on those websites at all those faces. . . .
I am sorry for your loss of Rupert, I know it is a tough loss to get over..
