The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

Missing my horse Belle

I lost my horse Belle a year ago, and it still hurts so much.  She was my best friend and my joy.  My heart hurts and I just feel empty with not much to look forward to.  I still keep asking why?  There are no answers.  People do not understand the loss of a pet and it makes me angry.  I end up feeling unvalidated and ignored.  I cry every day and it does help somewhat, but will never change the pain I feel. I still talk to her I hope she can hear me, and know how much she is missed.

hugs my friend. I understand what you are going through. I lost my con Artist Artie almost a year ago, Grumpy Granny 3 years ago and I still feel the pain of the loss. We will always miss them. They take a piece of our heart with them. I still talk to them as if they are beside me.

I had a therapy session today. I was telling the therapist that I never felt lonely until I lost my cat Joey in January. I just got a kitten who is part Siamese. I wasn't looking for any comparisons but I truly believe now that Akira is Joey reincarnated. That makes me happy. As to your Bella, she hears you. I'm sure it makes her happy. How old was she? How long did you have her for?

    I just applied for a job that is closer to home and more aligned with my college degree and work experience. It's part-time, but the pay is way better, and I hope to get it.
