The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.
It's been almost 9 years since I've had to leave my beloved Maggie-May behind to relocate and it's been almost 9 years since I've heard anything about how she's doing. We left her with an old neighbor of ours who was an avid pet lover, and we lost contact with her. I can't help but wonder where my Maggie is or how long she survived after we left her. I was so young and I tried to tell her that I didn't want to leave her, we just couldn't take her with us as it was a 9 hour drive and my aunt wouldn't allow me to bring her. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her and her little tricks, like climbing the gate in the backyard and running to the beach. She always came back when she got out, she just loved to have her own free time to run around as she pleased. I miss her dearly. Does it ever get better?

Wow, nine years is a long time. I think it would really help you if you could find the neighbor you left Maggie-May with. If you have a name then you could probably find her and contact her. If that's not possible then you need to know that you left her in good hands and that she was well taken care of. Your neighbor from what it sounds like probably gave her a very good life. I've lost 2 dogs from my childhood and I do still think of them but I just think of the good times we shared. Try to remember the good times. I think it's perfectly natural to miss your pets for a long time. I will miss each and everyone of my dogs until the day I die. I think what's troubling you is just not knowing what happened to her.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
