Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.
Cellos vet appt for his bandage changed went well and he was apprehensive at first, but took it in stride. The only problem was I got there an hour early, because I missed changing over from DST on Saturday! She was out for lunch and specializes in orthopedics, so watched the fish maintenance guy work on a 50+ gallon fish tank, which I thought was odd, being a vets office. Yea, like dont trust the doctor whose office plants are dieing
The wound is still infected and draining, holding off on the stitches coming out, but improving and on an additional more potent antibiotic, along with the remainder of his prior one. Its just a matter of getting them into him.
He wore himself out getting ugly with some of the dogs that marched in and laid next to me while on the computer and he started to hurt, so gave him a pain pill that gave him some peace. Until the infection clears out and he heals, hell be having regular 2-3 day visits.
Saturday: His Friday appointment showed much improvement with the drainage and infection. The vet and staff say hes very good with his procedures, which makes it easy on everyone! Ill be glad when that plastic ice cream cone is gone! With no side vision, he walks around like a drunk. He spends his days sleeping and resting, but today getting more back to his normal behavior and chowed down on his dry food for the first time. The antibiotics make him thirsty, so hes borrowing the cats dish as his collar fits around it and that empties often.
Tuesday: His Monday visit shows the infection has cleared, but he has to continue his meds till gone and bandage changes every 3-4 daysstick to 3 as I dont want this to return and set everything back again. They did extend the foot out slightly to gradually stretch the stitched tendon and they gave me two complimentary visits @ $40 each, which I sure appreciate. The meds have been over half the cost and they make little profit on them compared to what people get gouged with.
His personality is coming back, tough guy and all and the other day gave away an old refrigerator (11 yr) that came with the house and my Boxer was quite upset over it and Cello laid down across the doorway in quiet protest. It wasnt hard to figure outthe frig represents their special treats and food source, never mind theres a much larger one, more is better even if it was empty, although it was used for Halloween candy and cooling down Dahlias for winter storage.
