Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.
I think it's only human to look back and ask why this happened and what if you did something different. There are many of us that look back and ask ourselves the same thing. It's apparent you loved Simon very much and would never have done anything to hurt him.
I lost my baby girl 3 months ago and found sharing my story and receiving support from people here has helped me immensely.
Hold onto the love you shared.
Hugs xoxo
I trained him as a kitten to come to the sound of me clanging on his food dish when I wanted him to come inside. I never let him stay out past dark. That day I went out in the front yard near a tree he liked to take naps under and called him and clanged on his dish but he didnt come. Went in the backyard, did the same thing and glanced over to the pool where I saw him floating. I dropped and broke his food dish and ran and fished him out and was screaming. I was panicking. My fianc came out and tried to give him CPR but it didnt work, he had already died and we never heard a peep.
I cant get this image out of my head or the thoughts of him suffering before he died. I try not to think about it too much because it starts me crying. Its so cruel he died this way only a year after we found our forever home. I hope wherever he is he forgives me for not saving him.
