Personality Disorders Support Group
Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.
I do feel concerned that you are so suicidal and ALL suicide threats or gestures should always be taken seriously and if they don't, then shame on them. I wish you the best of luck and most of all be good to you because you deserve it. Love/Hugs Catie :) If you need to talk I will listen.
I think sometimes you have to sit back, forget what negative things people have to say, and tell yourself that you love yourself no matter what and that whatever you are going through is ok to be going through. You've got enough to worry about without worrying about all the guilt you put on yourself to be having worry in the first place. Did that make sense? I'm a rambler, forgive me.
I'm going to try to be easy on myself too. Hope you will join me. Cheers!
Then again its probobly a matter of who is the doctor.
But I do know it is never your fault in times like these. Its just another stage. Youll get through it. You did nothing to "deserve" it. It is just something that happened, something that just is.
Also, their statement "your depression and suicidality is because of institutionalization" can be interpreted another way. It can also be said that, because you are institutionalized, or are being told you are at risk, it is triggering to you. Does that make sense?
Hoping things do get better for you, treat yourself with kindness

They thought i'd be better outside. Which is kind of strange, as i would have thought that if i was getting worse they would have kept me in! But actually i did get better when i got out.
I don't know, its hard to understand them sometimes!
The trouble I have with their arguement is that for 18 months previous to going to the eating disorder I had depression and had times where I was suicidal. I'd never been in a unit at that time.
I'm a day patient so I go there between the hours of 10am and 4pm, 5 days a week...a bit like school really.

If you mean't before, I'd been in neither at that time. I was first hospitalised for suicidal thoughts so they came before.
This is quite frusterating..
But I would still say that they do not mean to say that they do not take you being suicidal serisously, that they are seeing the effects of the environment you have been put into as detrimental, triggering to you and they want to somehow get you out of that and still in their care so they can moniter you in a place where you arent being so triggered.
Because also consider just because you are not in an institution does not mean that you are not under extreme care by professionals. Maybe they mean to make frequent visits with you to monitor how you are doing, especially under the circumstances with how you would have left. Doctors will still be there, even if you are not within the walls of an institution.
Thank you everyone!
