Personality Disorders Support Group
Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.

my GP and psychologist think I am BPD and now in mid December I'm being sent to a psychiatrist. My ex husband left me last year, he's an alcoholic and there were way too many nasty fights. I have 7 children to my ex husband ranging in the ages of 2yrs - 11yrs. I have a new man in my life now who at times is sweet and caring but he's had it with my irrational behaviour and is ready to leave me. I've had 3 trips to hospital within a month, only to be relieased once I've been there overnight. I have tried to hang myself not long ago and my new man walked in on it. I don't know what's wrong with me. I just seem to snap and then look out. I broke the glass in the front door last night from the force of slamming it during an argument with my boyfriend. Needless to say my boyfriend called the police and it was another trip to hospital. Obviously now I'm home. I don't know why I snap, I get paranoid thoughts, irrational thoughts, hallucinations (nothing too dramatic), I cant stop the behaviour, I snap at people, think everyone is against me, hate myself, I really just want peace. I'm on medication, an antidepressant and an antipsychotic but nothing seems to be helping that much. I have to change or my boyfriend will walk. Is there anything I can do to be norma?

I forgot to mention that since I've been in hospital 3 times within the last month one of them was for trying to hang myself, one was for an anticipated OD (they thought I was going to do it) and the other was for self harming, I've now been reported to child protective services who will no doubt come out and pay me a visit. I did threaten once to hurt my children and I hated myself for the thoughts and told my GP about it. I would never do it but I felt shocked I was thinking about it and I did feel at the end of my rope. My ex hardly ever takes all 7 children at once, he'll take 3 or 4 for a night when he feels like it and I have no family support. I'm on the verge of losing it all. I need to get my act together but don't know where to start. My ex is happy now and I'm glad for him, he left me for another woman, is still an alcoholic, he is a nice man, but an asshole when drunk and played vicious mind games with me and still does. I got the blame for the marriage breakdown because of my behaviour, it just shits me. I'm trying to move on, but I'm a bit of a mess.

I also forgot to mention that I kick my new man out over and over and over when I'm in one of my moods, and then I'm begging him to come back. I want more affection from him, he can't give it to me until I 'earn' it, like behave for a while. If I had more affection maybe I would behave, lol. I don't know

I think the only solution for me is to shut down emotionally and feel nothing, hopefully that will work

The treatment for BPD is medication and therapy, both take time to get right but together both can give you the stablity you desire. Make an appointment with your doctor and discuss medication options and get him to talk with your therapist as well, have them all work together to help you.
