Personality Disorders Support Group
Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.
I posted on DS, and Amiko1 suggested the following books.
"Borderline Personality Disorder Demystified" by Robert O Friedel and "The Borderline Personality Disorder Survival Guide" by Chapman and Gratz.
I've read about half of the Friedel book and it has really helped me. First of all it indicates there is some hope. Second as I read the chapters about BPD tendencies, I started to understand why I reacted the way I do to some things. Before it seemed soooo illogical. Now I see how it fits. Also made it easier to talk to my tdoc. We are starting on DBT. It is suppose to be really promising for BPD.
Don't quit before you do a little more research. Suicide is a long-term answer to a short-term problem. Because if you are like me, I cycle soooo much soooo quickly. Suicide seems like an answer..... but if you really look at the consequences, not just to you to everyone around you.
Go find a better pdoc!!!!! Talking does help. So does some medicine!!!!!! Sounds like we need to work this one together!!!!
medication can help you if you find the right one, i think this doctor is wrong to treat you this way, i know how you feel though as i have been treated this way too.
I think from this site that the treatment for bpd in the US is better than here though, so dont give up, get referred again.
good to see you here ,
