Personality Disorders Support Group
Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.

my mother-in-law has borderline personality disorder (BPD), and we {her support system} have been told that for BPD, the most helpful u can do for them is "reduse the chaos"... but as that being the only thing u can do for them, how do u reduse the chaos if its all in their head? is there any other form?

Hmmmm...that is a very difficult question to answer. As each person suffers with the symptoms in different severity levels...it's hard to say which would help her. The only thing that I can suggest is to let her go through her motions...which allowing her to retaliate too much at things that are driving her to react. Just reduce stressors for her. You'll learn what triggers her anger...and when you do, then you'll learn what subjects you should keep to a minimum. But don't avoid the subjects completely...just don't let them get too heated. At least...that's the only thing I can advise...as I have BPD...and sometimes I want to talk about certain things...but at the same time...it triggers me to react. The more intense a situation gets...the more chaotic things feel. Just remember that.

sometimes the higher the stress level the worse my BPD gets. Its hard because there are meds to help some things and not others. A lot of times its best for the person to have people they can go to, (like yourself). Just to be able to talk, and sometimes a breakdown will happen, but as long as the person knows that people will be there to help them it can make things easier on them.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
