Thanks to a dear friend, I have identified another behavior that was staring me in the face the whole time but that I couldn't see as part of the bigger picture. I never put a "label" on it til now. I knew the avoidance was frustrating and anger producing and worked BAD against us but it took a long time to link it with what I knew to be passive aggressiveness. So now I have another factor to consider. I am in love with an AVOIDANT passive aggressive. It's not like I couldn't see the fear and discomfort build in him whenever a topic was one he'd rather not discuss. It's not like I couldn't recognize that deer in the headlights look in his eyes or that I didn't become familiar with the way he would jump up and head for the door whenever the topic got too intense for him. He escapes to someone who hasn't known him long enough to see the problems. Maybe the only answer for this man is staying with someone who doesn't care enough to want to fix anything.That's easy for him. He can go on avoiding what's making his life miserable until his life is over. Much easier than fixing the problem. And then, of course, there's that other option...when he can't avoid the problem any longer, he can end his life. Something has happened to me since I came on this site. Something I never expected or considered. I came here to learn more about him and I am discovering myself. I'm finding out that I have unresolved issues of my own and that my issues are the reasons I was drawn to this person in the first place. I'm learning why I care, why I hurt, why I need to fix, why I need to love him...of all the people in the World...why do I need him to love me? He's broken. Why do I care more about fixing him then he does? Why Do I Love Too Much? I have lived 67 years without these answers. Hell, I have lived 67 years not even knowing I had questions. It's time. Thank all of you for helping me unravel me.
