Personality Disorders Support Group
Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.
Anyone heard of this? It stands for Protection Of Vunerable Adults.
Has anyone had any experience of this? I've been told that if a certain situation arises at home. These forms will have to be filled out as I would be seen as a 'vunerable adult'.
Basically I live at home with my Mum and Brother and at the moment I guess the people at the hospital consider me under enough care because my Mum is there. But, due to a number of things:
1- her own depression arising
2- possible new bf moving in whilst he tried to get 'clean' from a heroin addiction
my therapist has said that if this happens, they will have to fill out these forms.
I don't understand what this will mean for me. I've tried asking but they are being pretty cagey about it all.
If this happens, are they basically saying that my Mum will no longer be allowed to be my carer? Like she's neglected me in some way? That's awful!!! I don't want them to do that!!! It would destroy her!

I work as a support worker in England, with vulnerable adults and whenever i apply for jobs with vulnerable adults i need to have a POVA check. It means they check i've no criminal record and i haven't hurt anyone vulnerable. Its to ensure safety for the vulnerable people i work with.
Every worker in social care have to have a POVA check.
Basically your therapist is just trying to look out for you, to make sure your safe.
