Peptic Ulcers Support Group
A peptic ulcer is an ulcer of one of those areas of the gastrointestinal tract that are usually acidic. Most ulcers are now known to be associated with Helicobacter pylori, a spiral-shaped bacterium that lives in the acidic environment of the stomach. About 4 % of gastric ulcers are caused by a malignant tumor, which is one reason to be vigilant in their detection.

Disclaimer: I am NOT a physician. However, I do possess an MPH (Master's in Public Health, so I am an expert at PREVENTING diseases, bu I am not licensed to treat them. Keep that in mind as you read.
I develpoed a peptic ulcer in early 2008. Symptoms included upper abdominal pain especially at night, pain went away after eating. I had no bloody stool or vomit. However, I was diagnosed with an H.pylori infection.
A general practicioner prescribed me 2 antibiotics and 2 different kinds of proton pump inhibitors (reduces acid secretion). I did not get better AT ALL after 2 months of this treatment.
I decided to take a more natural route to treat myself. I came accross a natural herbal tea imported from Africa. I do not remember the name of this tea, but could find it if I needed to. Just ask if interested. Anyway, after drinking this tea for a month, my stool test for H. Pylori was negative, but I still had the ulcer pain, so I finally decided to do something that some might consider dangerous, but IT WORKED and I got very positive results. What am I talking about???
When you develop a sore - any sore - the last thing that you want to do is rub chicken, beef, sugar, corn, and oh let's not forget hydrochloric acid and digestie enzymes all over the sore. How then will it heal??? So I decided to FAST for 2 weeks. That's right, I stoped eating for 14 days straight (I am 5'5 and weighed 135 lbs when I began the fast for the record), which kept food, acid, and digestive enzmes (pepsin is a digestive enzyme that can break the covalent bonds between amino acids within proteins. These bonds are called peptide bonds. Pesin is where "peptic ulcer" gets its name) off of my ulcer.
During the fast, I consumed only sea salt water (1 teaspoon of sea salt per Liter of water consumed). After I broke the fast and began eating again, I noticed a HUGE improvement. I temporarily changed my diet to mostly alkalizing foods such as broccoli, carrots, cabbage, and romaine lettuce. I consumed meat ONLY with green leafy vegetables and drink plenty of fresh distilled water with my meals. Also, I completely gave up all refined carbohydrates (breads, cookies, cereals, etc.) for the entire month. This WAS NOT easy, but good health has to be earned. In order toget better you must do something that you haven't been doing.
After the 2-week fast and about a month of eating as described above, my peptic ulcer was practically nonexistent. Fasting can be dangerous for some people so PLEASE thoroughly research fasting before attempting it. It is important to note that before I did the 2-week fast, I went on a vegetable juice diet for 5 days followed by a short 5-day fast t test how my body would react before. It is especially important not to break the fast by eating the wrong thing.
This cure worked for me and I hope that it works for anyone that reads this. I had to discover it the hard way and became desperate enough to fast, but it worked!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

Of course, there are some people that simply take Nexium or Prevacid for a little while and get better and that's the end of it. What would be interesting is to see how results rates correlate with other factors like gender, stress, ulcer severity, diet, water quality, age, and even time of year which can affect things like vitamin D levels and immunity.
Fasting is a wonder cure to a lot of things. I tried fasting and my pain was really intense so I started eating again but I may have to try the fast once more, I think I was just stressed and should have tried tea to relieve it.
